I have shared the two main approaches to Internet Marketing above and recommended excellent resources for each. One requires a lot of time and patience at the start, but is completely hands-off money once you get to the top of Google. To be honest, this is the method usually preferred by more introverted people because it does not require any interaction with others, and there is no need to maintain a relationship since it is just a numbers game.
The other method requires a lot of communication with people in your niche and adding value to every discussion that you can. You need to reach out to others, and find a lot of win-win trades. If you like talking to like-minded people and building relationships, if you are extroverted in general, this method may be more suitable for you. It is also possible to operate independent of Google through this method.
Finally, the methods can be combined to great effect. Getting to the top of Google and driving people to your mailing list is the best of both worlds. Even better, being at the top of Google and promoting your own product (or member site) through your #1 ranked website, gigantic mailing list, and numerous affiliates is the zenith of Internet Marketing success. However, each method requires a ton of work up front, so get good at one method first before trying to learn another.
