“I can’t see any other way.” Nicks stared at Simon. “I’m going to have to go back to Baddeley and see if he’ll do it for us. I’m not certain he will but I think if I pitch it right he’ll appreciate the clue, once he’s fought his natural reaction to resist. Anyway, we’ve not got a lot of time to spare.”

Si put his glass on the table and wiped his mouth. “Our Kenny’s willing to see what he can find. He’s pretty good you know.”

Nicks examined the last of his beer. “I don’t want to rely on your cousin’s computer skills, Si. At least, not until we’re completely desperate. It’s breaking the circle and it could put him in danger.”

Simon shrugged. “Fair enough, but I think I should let him know not to make any plans for the next few days, just in case.”

“Mmmm,” Nicks put his empty glass down, nodding his agreement as he swallowed.

Anca sat back and peered at them both. “Well, that’s that settled. Are we going to this Nepalese restaurant or what? I’m famished.”
