Resource 2: Action Plan Example

Action Plan Key

This is an example of a maintenance action plan that I put together. This is a four week (1 month) series of small tasks broken up throughout the week. I always have a day off to do no work and I suggest that you do as well. Not only is it good for yourself and your sanity, but taking a break from your business will be better for it in the end.

Also, remember that this is a maintenance plan. On top of this you should be doing marketing campaigns and other business particulars. This is simply to help you increase your knowledge and your online presence consistently so the foundation of your business stays strong while you work on getting leads and customers.

SMM
Stands for “Social Media Maintenance”. Do your rounds with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn responding to messages and friend requests.

CM
Stands for “Community Maintenance”. This is for both blogs you read and forums you are active on. Read several each day and leave a valuable comment each time.

Educate
This means learn something new! If you didn’t learn anything useful making your rounds in the Blogs and Forums than utilize a training tool you have, attend a webinar or go read a book – and take notes!

Blog
Write a blog post, and be sure to syndicate it to your other websites for more backlinks!

G-Blog
Write a guest blog post and submit it. If it’s rejected feel free to substitute it for another task during that week or month to save time!

Forum
Write a post for a forum thread. Make sure it’s original, even if you take content from one of your blog posts. Be sure to always check back for comments and keep updated on the discussion you created.

Facebook; LinkedIn; Twitter
Whenever one of these comes up on the Calendar it means to add more connections on that particular site, so that you’re always meeting new people and exposing them to your business.

Website
This is a monthly chore, consisting of keeping your website updated and ready for your readers and leads to peruse.

Plurk; Multiply; Blogger; etc.
Whenever these appear you should actually log in to that account and update your profile, add friends, check messages, etc. This keeps your entire online presence consistent and up-to-date.
