• Grandpa didn't say much while we were walking. In fact all he said for the whole way into the field was "honey, just look up and see if you can count the stars."
• Have you ever tried to count the stars? If you live in a city there are too many lights shining so you can't count them but if you live in the country it is a little easier. I started counting but kept losing my count when I would have to step over a rock or a hole in the ground. It really was very dark out in the field. Finally I just gave up and said "I don't think you can count all of the stars grandpa." He smiled and said "you're right, it's not possible. But it used to be possible and that's part of the story I'm going to share with you."
