JENI’S STORY

Our oldest, Hoyt, who is just shy of four years old, has been experiencing night terrors for a couple years now. There have been nights where Hoyt went through a night terror for hours where he isn't in a full state of consciousness, and it is truly terrifying for him and us as parents. Even more, at daycare, Hoyt has been showing some bullying signs and having difficulty listening. The week prior to Jim's presentation, our daycare lady told me, 'he was in and out of time out for an hour.' It was so hard to hear that as a mom.

After Jim came to speak with us, that night I sat down with Hoyt and asked him what was something he liked to do with just daddy and then just with mommy. He told me he likes riding the lawn mower with dad and going to the park with mom. So that night, pressed with time before bed, we tried a mini Board Meeting. For an hour he and I went outside and played. Then he and dad rode the lawn mower together. I know this isn't exact Jim's method but I was curious. Before bed, he was talking up a storm about how much fun he had.

The next day, when I picked up Hoyt, both daycare providers told me separately, it was like Hoyt was a different kid; he didn't have any time outs and was playing so well with the other kids.

Fast forward a couple weeks, still very few time outs at daycare and at home.
