Verses for Ms. Goody Two Shoes
It’s a Tough life
I get up in the morning, I brush my teeth,
I eat my cereal, I wash my feet.
Oh my god, it’s time for school!
I still have to polish my shoes, you see.
Oh, why is life so tough for me?
At school, the teacher makes me write,
All the letters and the numbers right.
As soon as I’m home, my brother wants a romp,
Not for a minute will he let me be.
Oh, why is life so tough for me?
I want to run, and I want to play,
I want to dance and paint all day.
Even my favourite cartoon film I never have enough time to see.
Oh, why is life so tough for me?
In the evening we go to the park,
I swing very high, and we play tag.
But it’s time for bed before I am done,
Oh, I never seem to be free.
Oh, why is life so tough for me?
I Love Grandma Best
Mummy, Mummy, I love you,
For all the little things that you do,
You cook for me and clean my dirt,
You pick me up when I am hurt.
You take me to school and teach me to read,
Every day your help I need.
Daddy, Daddy, I love you,
For all the fun stuff that you do,
You drive very fast on the country road,
You carry me on your shoulders broad.
You taught me how to catch a ball,
I can’t do without you at all.
Mummy, Daddy, I love you,
But there is something I haven’t told you.
While I do love the rest, I will always like grandma the best.
She hugs me and kisses me and doesn’t scold,
Nor does she say, ‘Do as you are told.’
When I am bored she takes me for a treat,
Never is she too tired to get on her feet.
She plays all my games with me,
She never tries to hurry me, you see.
She is your mother; to her you should turn,
Why don’t you both listen and learn?
If you don’t, then as I said, I will always love her best.
