Christmas Alone
Christmas this year will seem strange to her
it's the first she's spent all alone
no need to worry, she'll be ok,
there's always something on tv
She'll treat herself to her favourite foods
and maybe risk a little drink
nothing too strong, a drop of port
nice with a morsel of crumbly cheese
No tree of course, well what's the point?
but maybe she'll buy herself a gift
something without a label perhaps
so it comes as a surprise
A handful of cards on the living room wall
will tell her she's not forgotten
as she sits alone in her quiet home
cracking nuts from a bowl.
