Contentment

There's a lot to be said for contentment, accepting folk as they are,

not trying to change those around us - it's a much better way by far;

allowing others the freedom to grow at their own pace,

living in the here and now, just part of the human race.

There's a lot to be gained from contentment: a heart at peace within,

a friendly face and smiling eyes, a mind that's not in a spin.

I heartily recommend it  as a way of life for all:

knowing one's limitations while standing and walking tall.

It isn't the be-all and end-all, we should try to improve as well;

attempt to put right what's going wrong,  not suffer some kind of hell.

There's nought to be gained by apathy, or laziness or such,

those aren't the same thing at all though, they're just a sort of crutch,

But there's much to be said for contentment, - desire expands like yeast -

leaving something for someone else for enough is as good as a feast.

In these days of avarice it isn't admired I guess,

but when you weigh it up, what counts? Ourselves, or what we possess?
