No fond farewell attends their going,
the lost, the disappeared ones;
no good-bye kiss, no cheery wave.
Bright flames extinguished by
the darkness, fear and paranoia
had stalked their every move.
Gone forever, mourned in secret.
Meanwhile, on the surface,
life continues as before.
