Life and Death

Only humans choose to die

only humans wonder “why?”.

Most things you could call alive

daily struggle to survive

When danger comes they don’t ask why,

it’s not their choice to live or die.

Bigger brains with intellect

prefer to be more circumspect:

“But why? why me? it isn’t fair!”

as if the universe should care.

We live, we die, the world just turns,

the sun in all its glory burns

the pallid moon encircles us

controlling tides with little fuss.

In a thousand years or so

we’ll be a tale of long ago.

So live today the life you’ve got

although it may not seem a lot

However bad it could be worse;

intellect can be a curse.
