Calm After Storm
O
H, I have often watched while deep despair
Clutched at a heart where hope had
seemed quite lost:
A storm too great for human strength to bear
Raged wildly, and a soul was tempest-tossed;
But after the long dark night of storm there came
The sunrise, clear as crystal, gold as flame.
Within the hold of life the Master stays
To bid the wild waves and the tempest cease.
Despairing ones, though dark the nights and days,
He will arise and speak the calm word: “Peace.”
Wait for him patiently, he surely will
Come forth and bid the winds and waves, “Be
still.”
