Youth Pleads for Aid
F
EED us, we pray, for hungry indeed we are
For the spiritual food in the granaries of our
God.
Point to the heavens, show us his silver star,
Help us to straighten the pathways you have trod.
We have had no part in the chaos and despair
That has led the world to this darkened outer rim.
Teach us the meaning and the might of prayer
That the Lord may speak to us, and we to him.
We shall not blame our fathers for our lack.
The world was too much with them, never the time
For them to stop upon the beaten track
And point us to the upward, skyward climb.
We are longing now for the truth that will set us
free,
We would dedicate our youth, our lives, our all
To one high purpose, if we could only see
The way to go—Ah, who will heed our call!
