Cast Away

Cast your eyes away,

And I will gladly accept defeat,

I’ll carry my heart above my shoulders

And with indignation bow,

Head slumped on the green earth,

Cast your heart away from me,

And I’ll age within so discreet

My being growing colder,

Tossing aside every smile, every praise,

And replacing it with distain,

If I was cast away entirely,

It would be a shame indeed,

I’ll have quite a fear and quite a loathing,

In others I have a need,

But cast me away from God

And I’ll have no way to see,

When cast away by others,

I count my blessings and say at least not by he.
