O Saeyong was born in Yonggwang, South Cholla Province, and studied at Seoul National University. He writes in lyrical mode of the pain of modern life. Concerned always with time, life’s loneliness and inevitability, and the threat posed to our world by one-sided ideology, he approaches his themes from the perspective of balance and transcendence.
