Communion

When I’m drawn away by the cares of this world,
My sight is dimmed by darts the devil has hurled;
My hearing diminished, His quiet voice can’t be heard,
He stands, and knocks at my heart’s door;

He says, “Come and communion with me today,
I’ve waited while you went your way,
I can restore joy where there is dismay,
You need not look any more”.

“The spirit, will comfort as you allow,
The angels, have watched over you until now,
I can wipe distress from your brow,
My blood covers you if in me you abide”;

“When you went astray I waited on you,
I was your hope when you didn’t know what to do;
When the storm raged I carried you through,
I am always by your side”.

He says, “Come commune with me today in prayer,
The water of life is abundant there,
My word is your light to make the way clear,
I am the Truth, the Life, the Way”.

“Here are my gifts, take the bread (of life), it’s free,
You are washed clean with my blood (the wine) for eternity,
The cleansing flood (baptism) creates a new you in me,
Come commune with me today”.
