THIS EVER PREVALENT FOG

It’s been a hard day’s life
And an even darker night.
The stars don’t shine anymore
Inside this ever prevalent fog
I find myself permanently wrapped in.
I can’t seem to unzip this night and
The north star has gone into hiding.
My compass is broken
And direction has become impossible.
There’s an anguished scream
Lost somewhere inside me,
Clawing to get out,
Searching for a vacuum to explode in.
This fog crept over me
While I was sleeping inside a dream.
I’m awake now
Still lost in this ever prevalent fog,
Directionless.
AND –
I’ve lost the dream too.
