WITHOUT LOVE

Without love,

dreams and hopes

are worthless.

Today I am without love!

I reflect on

this Valentine’s Day afternoon

and I realize that I don’t have

a woman to love.

Only you, girl of mine, only your poetry.

You come on this afternoon

 to caress my white temples

and keep me company.

I have not received a flower.

No one has kissed my lips

that sleep on this

lovers’ afternoon.

Oh, life! Oh, life!

Life, why have you

denied me love?

Life, why have you

denied me luck?

Life, why did you

make me different?

Life, why did you

make me a politician?

Life, why did you

make me a fighter?

Life, why did you

make me a dreamer?
