LOVE IS NOT LOVE

Love is not love which puts love to a test,
Nor is it love which makes of love a jest.
Love is not love which scolds or undermines, Which tries to change the loved one, nags or whines. Love is accepting, patient, is not earned.
Love loves and does not ask to be returned, Although love is delighted when requited,
When lover with beloved is united.
Love endures all things, lasts through the years, Through disaster, laugher, and through tears. Love is loyal. Together or apart,
Love holds the loved one ever in one’s heart. This, my love, is how I have loved you,
And though you love me not, dear, I still do.
