Autumn
The days shorten with a touch of crispness in the air,
Those dog days are becoming distant like a northern polar bear,
Awakening to a new academic year among other things,
Eager to see friends again and hear the stories they bring,
Summer will indeed return like a goofy boomerang,
Until then teachers teach until the final bell makes a distinct ring or even clang,
Leaves lose their luster as the trees feel an end,
They need their own rest until spring reaches the next bend,
Mornings are dark and cool,
Makes for a dismal start heading off to work or school,
Soon the snow will fall like the dying leaf,
Hopefully winter will be quiet and rather brief!
