WINGS

 

Now I lay me down to sleep

My stomach is empty

And my bones are weak.

I pray for wings

So that I might soar

I’d look down at you

And nevermore.

I’d lift my wings

And fly from this nest.

I’d be driven out soon

I would never look back.
