DOWN A CORRIDOR

As I walk down a corridor

In the dawning hours

I am pummeled

I have succumbed

I am weakened by its power.

They shoot at me

With fiery darts

And deluded hues.

My livelihood is soured

My dreams are skewed.

I have little choice

But to tolerate the mess

My enemies laugh loudly

I sit in silence while they jest.
