LESSONS UNLEARNED

My heart should dwell elsewhere

In your heart I can’t rest

You’ve lost my trust

And slayed my heart.

Some people are quick to say

You treated me with contempt.

I can’t say I disagree with them,

Although I’ve given you

The benefit of the doubt.

I can’t say that I’ve learned my lesson

From any of this

I find myself thinking of you instead.
