OBJECT

I’m not an object

I’m not something to adore

I won’t sit in silence

While you patronize me again.

I couldn’t find the words to speak

But I wanted to  tell you to stop.

I starved myself for this affection

I’ve settled for nothing more

Than a shallow imitation of love,

One-dimensional, empty, unsatisfying.

My worth means much more.
