RUNNING

Everybody has a tale to tell

Some tales are of prominence

And others, riddled with shame.

I walked in shame far too long-

I walked with inflated pride

To bolster the Novocaine

That protected the inside.

If only I had realized the real me-

If only I understood

My misunderstood flatteries.

Running from everything,

Eventually, something stops

And immovable force.

More devastation

Gridlocked,

Succumbed to humiliation.
