SNAKES

Why are we wired for selfishness?

When do we ever inherently

Give freely of ourselves?

If you ask me, I will say to you

That we are a brood of vipers

Snakes in a room.

All day long, we slither and hiss.

Gulping up remnants of life

Living under spiritual duress.

Like snakes in a room.
