5.4 - The Wizard and the Workout

In the Woods lived an elf,

By herself, all alone.

On a day came a dwarf

With a scarf to her throne.

With a bow, he said: "Queen,

I have seen how thou cries

For the forest. It's bad,

And it's sad that it dies."

Then the fairy said: "Dear,

For a year it was green,

But the rain ceased to fall

Onto all this. It's mean.

The grey wizard, he cursed

'Till he burst, and what now?

We need magic to cure

Our nature, or a vow."

Dwarf said: "Queen, I will dig,

With my pig, you a well

In the mountains and look

At the brook, make it swell."

When the river, the flow,

Came below, it brought life,

And the dwarf became hairy Happy,

And the fairy, his wife.

[Editor's Note: I corrected the final sentence: for commercial reasons, artistic rhyme had to be sacrificed for a happily ever after ending.]
