i am who i am -
i like avocados straight and
neither tea nor coffee and
cats over dogs and
books and movies equally.
despite the
rainy days i
spend outdoors and
the dress i only wear on sundays,
i’ve learned to take
every aspect of myself and
shine towards those around me.
if they despise the light,
they can just
shield their eyes.
my own
body became
more important
than the
false promises you
threw my way and
expected me to
catch, believe, and
savor.
