Messenger of the Sea

I sleep chained to ice over midnight water

This is your   cousin

 Barnacled shoulders

Somewhere in the deep

There is love in a palace somewhere down below

But I

Am suspended above you seeing all things

The flash

Of a moment

On the eye

An inversion

Of all

That is real

The devil taps his fingers with patient impatience

And I know

It is far too slow a fall anymore, this longing,

To be of any practical use

Against the gray heaven

Or the blue Hell

Yes, I left her in the morning without a word

So she could hang like me

Over   a weeping

  oblivion

Leave me  alone  messenger     of the sea
