Caged

(For Ryan)

They’ve clipped all your wings, my friend, So you couldn’t fly;
Strapped you to that cage there And thought you would die.

But you never obliged them,
You never gave in,
Your mind could still wonder,
Your soul could still sing.

Confined to that wheelchair,
A sardine in a can,
But no other person—
So walked like a Man.
