500

Time slows down as my heart

speeds up.

Faster and faster I go,

going nowhere.

My temperature rises as the

sweat falls.

This is murder! I glance up

through the veil of salty tears

hanging off my eyelashes.

"101 calories" laughed the screen

taunting me.

Quicker and quicker I pant,

sweaty pants!

My blood boils and the legs turn !

t o  l e a d .

Fuming! I press on, tapping

into the primordial soup

simmering in my veins.

Halfway there with no

turning back.

It feels like I'm having a

heart attack.

My head gets light while the legs

get heavy.

No time to slack, the metronomic

seconds feel like minutes, prolonging

the Promethean agony in my body.

Racing towards the

finish line,

I pedal furiously, moving forward through

time but not space.

499, 500! I made it!

The sense of achievement

is short-lived. The fulminating fury

I hardly felt is already a distant memory.

Same again tomorrow, I guess...
