The Answer Phone

The home telephone rings and rings and rings,

Sue remains on the couch ignoring it,

It rings and rings and rings and rings and rings,

Very soon, the answer machine is hit.

Sue remains on the couch ignoring it,

It could be her aunt calling once again,

Very soon, the answer machine is hit:

'Answer the god dam phone, I know you're in!'

It could be her aunt calling once again,

No matter who  calls or however mad,

'Answer the god dam phone, I know you're in!'

Sue will never answer for she feels sad.

No matter who  calls or however mad,

She sits on the seat unprepared to talk,

Sue will never answer for she feels sad

Unfazed by them who her telephone stalk.

She sits on the seat unprepared to talk

The home telephone rings and rings and rings,

Unfazed by them who her telephone stalk

It rings and rings and rings and rings and rings.

The Clean Fish

The hungry fish swims through the valley's lake

The fish looks for a morsel to bite on

For hours and hours nothing's been in her wake,

Her stomach's as empty as a cannon.

The fish looks for a morsel to bite on

Anything that's wriggling and edible,

Her stomach's as empty as a cannon

She despairs to have something to nibble.

Anything that's wriggling and edible

Ah, the fish has found it, something moving,

She despairs to have something to nibble

Some sort of worm or anchovy grooving.

Ah, the fish has found it, something moving,

The fish bites, but a fishing line reels up,

Some sort of worm or anchovy grooving

A fisherman's caught his first fish for sup!

The fish bites, but a fishing line reels up

How unlucky this hungry fish has been,

A fisherman's caught his first fish for sup

The cod struggles and fights to escape clean.

How unlucky this hungry fish has been

The fish is smarter than the fisherman,

The cod struggles and fights to escape clean

The fish has put up the best fight it can.

The fish is smarter than the fisherman

Straight through his fingers, back into the pool,

The fish has put up the best fight it can

A lucky escape!  Away from that fool.

Straight through his fingers, back into the pool,

For hours and hours nothing's been in her wake

A lucky escape!  Away from that fool.

The hungry fish swims through the valley's lake.
