Teresa Whitfield is a senior fellow and adviser on UN strategy at New York University's Center on International Cooperation and a senior adviser to the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva, with responsibility for liaison with the United Nations. From 2005 to 2008, she was director of the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum, a program of

the Social Science Research Council that facilitates access by UN officials to outside sources of expertise on countries in conflict or crisis. In 1995-2000 she worked as an official within the United Nations' Department of Political Affairs. She is a member of the board of trustees of Conciliation Resources and of the advisory board of the Conflict Prevention and Peace Forum. Her publications include Friends Indeed? The United Nations, Groups of Friends, and the Resolution of Conflict (Washington, D.C.: United States Institute of Peace Press, 2007).
