Airbnb® Insurance Coverage

Airbnb provides Host Protection Insurance that covers Airbnb hosts as well as landlords around the world. It mainly concentrates on protecting the host and/or landlord against liability when insurance claims are brought by 3rd parties, such as a next-door neighbor and including visitors that stay at the location. Coverage runs up to $1 million USD per incident in the event of property damages or injury.

Featured in the insurance coverage are common spots like lobbies or lifts. Airbnb insurance coverage is mainly liability insurance that protects the host, landlord or homeowners association from claims brought by a visitor to cover things like damages to the building or an accident suffered throughout their vacation in the home. There are lots of points, however, that are not covered by Airbnb insurance.

The Airbnb Host Protection plan is just for liability as specified above. It does not consist of points such as residential property damage that is deliberate, as opposed to unintentional. Nor does it protect building damages such as mold or air pollution. And it also does not protect loss of earnings. So visualize if a flood or fire takes place during a visitor's stay and you are unable to rent the area till mitigation is complete. Not having coverage to compensate you for both damages to the building or loss of earnings can be devastating to your earnings.
