Recommended outline for public education on COVID-19 and PWIDD

A. Format

  • Must contain single-line statements;
  • Write-up or audio/video must be short and simple;
  • Content must directly address the receiver;
  • Must be colorful, illustrated, readable, and attractive;

B. Content

  • What is the coronavirus?

o It is a new illness spreading around the world.

  • Where does it come from?

o Someone who already has it

  • How does it come?

o When they cough or sneeze the germs get into the air on you and on things

o Then they get into your body through mouth nose or your eyes.

  • What happens if you have it?

o Will have a cough, sore throat, fever, and shortness of breath.

  • What should be done then?

o Every cough or fever need not be corona.

o Most people with coronavirus will feel unwell.

o But not everyone needs to go to the hospital.

o Some will have to go to the hospital.

  • How does the virus spread?

o Through the air from a cough or a sneeze

o If you touch the things that someone with the virus has touched

o It can go from your hands into your body when you touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.
