Alternative Purposes and Utilities…
Before we start the chapter, I very humbly and with deep sense of amiability and compassion, call upon your magnanimity and optimality of openness, as I wish to take you to some idea and idealism, which is not very easy for our usual intuitive perceptions and acceptances. I also very respectfully appeal you to proactively partner with me in our joint enterprise to delve into some thought-territory, which is amenable not to intuitive Intelligence but non-intuitive Innocence of acceptance. It is also not easy for me to articulate it. I have already very humbly expressed how consciousness as a media is very insufficient for conceptualization and internalization of vastness of the holism of Reality. Moreover, expression of this ‘alternative’ intent of content through the very mediocre, metaphoric and hypocritical language, we communicate with, is tough. Therefore, the primary and cardinal ‘worth’ is your magnanimity, innocence and acceptance. If we could arrive at where we intend to, the sole and exclusive genius is yours. Einstein may not have been very sure of human stupidity but I am very much; about my own!
There are two broad ways in which we can understand something, especially complex ideas; given that the idea is very much part and parcel of our daily life-living. So far, in this eBook, we have been deliberating such ideas. Reality is what we all live out. First approach is to understand the singular, objective and complex science of the reality of the idea and accept it as some hypothesis or theory. Second is to understand broad aspects and Live Out the reality itself. Instead of hypothesizing, living out means, internalization of the idea within the layers of consciousness and actual observance and performance of the ‘Art’ of science in life-living. It is like; someone may study language and literature; learn all aspects of its reality and then enjoy poetry and even create poetry. Someone else may not study literature and language yet, he or she creates good poetry in simple expressions as he or she has lived out the essence and specificity of poetry itself. There was a legendary genius of India, known as Kabeer, who probably had no access to education and worked as poor weaver; yet, he created such deep and mesmerizing poetry, which has no parallel in history of humanity. He probably lived out the reality of life-living and then, poetic expression of these lived out experiences descended down on innocent and simple words. This Poor poet was the King of metaphors and literary imagery. In this eBook, since very start, we have listed out this very beautiful artistry of Internalization of Art, in the finest tradition of Living Out the Reality itself.
Somehow, in the domain of science of reality, first, there still is no definitiveness as the knowledge is still evolving and finality is elusive. Unlike language and literature, there is no singular definitive grammar and syntactic rules in science of reality as most ideas are hugely metaphoric and primarily in the domain of probability. Secondly, the reality of science apart, we all live out reality in our own ways and experience all those aspects of reality, which science may offer as field of study. This living out has the facilitative dimension of intuitiveness but, when we understand the basics of scientific ideas and begin to live out these ideas, the dimension of non-intuitiveness opens up for us. This idealism of living out Information in its holism, facilitated by scientific knowledge opens up portals of novel and alternative purposes in our life-living.
Ideally, everyone must learn the grammar and rules of language and art, before he or she delves into poetry. This surely is preferred chronology as it helps. However, if there is a situation, where there is no finality of a definitive field of singular knowledge; as is the case with science of Reality; there is this probability that we may not be worse off, if not better off, if we live out the Reality and internalize its multidimensionality in our own personal life-living. No doubt, knowledge of the basic aspects of the science of reality is important as it opens up the portals of non-intuitiveness of cognition but equally important is living them out. Why?
Any knowledge of humanity is for living it out and benefit from it. In the case of reality, learning through living it out has more benefits as good part of the Reality is emergent. Our consciousness itself is a classic media of emergence and therefore, it has the ease of living out realities and learn from life-living itself. This is what we have been doing so far in this eBook. We are detailing elements of Reality; familiarizing with aspects of scientific ideas about Reality and then attempting to understand it by living it out, through life-living examples all around us.
Moreover, what we have been doing primarily in this eBook is Living Out a very fruitful hypothesis, which says – Knowledge is junk if it is not lived out. Science too has to be lived out. In popular perception, science is accepted as a subject – an academic routine. This needs to be changed. Science is not a subject; it is Information of Life and Living. For that matter; poetry and literature is not a subject; it is also Information of life-living. For that matter, mathematics is also not a subject; it is also a beautiful language. Traditionally, we have accepted that life itself is the best teacher and the most vibrant syllabus of learning-unlearning. The long history of humanity has proven this hypothesis as we have had such geniuses in the past, who had no or very little academic education but created such masterpieces of art and science. It happens and shall always happen as life and our consciousness are the best and most potent Media of the holistic and symbiotic artistry of intuitiveness and non-intuitiveness. The mix of the two is what we have been insisting though out this eBook.
However, what we are going to do next, in this chapter is a tough situation. We are going to deal with some idea or what we may call an element of Reality, which is central to the very basis of Reality itself and about which, the contemporary science may offer probable hypotheses but they may not be easily understandable, unless we relate them with our own life-living. We are going to talk about a possible hypothesis of Causality between Information, Media, Milieu and Emergence. The Causality of Reality is a hugely complex and tough domain. Contemporary science offers great insights into a possible theory of causality or causation. But; they as usual are metaphoric and somehow a conflation of science, mathematics and philosophy. This is complex and not amenable to all. However, if we could live out this Causality by understanding it through our life-living experiences, we get to a model of personal wellness and excellence. This task is also not easy, as it involves so much of complexities and non-intuitive internalization processes. Still, we are attempting that. We are venturing to live out the Causality of Reality and this itself has fallen into the domain of probability as we have somewhat lived out the constituting ideas of Information, Media, Milieus and Emergence. As we attempt this tough task, we sure call upon our humility of Innocence and not the resolve of Intelligence. Living out a reality needs innocence of consciousness.
As we begin this tough enterprise, we probably can be better placed, if I start with the details about how this eBook ‘emerged’. This may help us Seed the very process of living out a reality. As we are talking about living out a reality, it may help if I explain in short as what ‘Causality’ engendered the ‘Emergence’ of this very eBook as both you and I are living out this eBook. This may help in understanding the causality of reality and the process of living it out. Let us give it a try; with all possible honesty of innocence at my behest.
It was April 15, 2021. The milieu around me was extremely grievous and painful. The second wave of Covid pandemic was wreaking havoc. Every day, there were around half a million new infections and over 4000 deaths. I had lost a close relative in my family a few days back due to Covid. People were dying on the streets, as they were refused admission in the already full hospitals. People were dying ghastly deaths, even in hospitals, as Oxygen was not available and was being black marketed. The relatives of the dead had to wait for hours for the last rites, as city’s crematoriums had no capacity for cremation of so many dead bodies arriving every passing hour. At many places, the crematoriums collapsed as they could not bear the continuous fire that had to be lighted for last rites. People were throwing away their dead in the rivers as they could not afford the cost of cremation. The graveyards could not accommodate the dead so, relatives buried their dead on the sides of rivers. The tales of the painfulness is endless…
I simply could not remain unaffected by the huge load of grief as I believe, grieving about all this hell on earth was the least I could do. I could not be shameless enough to enjoy life as I was alive and relatively safe. The grief however was too much and it took its serious impact on me. My metabolism went haywire and I dived deep into the abyss of gloom, bordering mental as well as physical morbidity. I realized, this could not go on and I had to come out of it as I am the sole caregiver to my old mother. I consciously decided to use the grief as metaphor for something better and come out of my current state of mind and body with artful representation of the massive tragedy. I decided; I would begin to write and live out my grief through the artistry of language and thoughts. I sat down to write on the above-mentioned date but I was completely blank. Usually, when I begin a new book, I already have the skeletons of the book in my mind; I jot down the points and then proceed with a definitive trajectory of writing. However, there was nothing in my mind as I had no planning. There was not even the intention to write a book. I simply wished to live out the grief and pain through a cathartic experience of writing. The blank was what I had as initiation for the book and the body-mind readiness was hugely missing.
As I am writing this, this Blank has already produced over 40,000 words. I am not even thinking what worth and utility these words have possibly created. I am simply continuing with what I had begun with – representing my grief and painfulness into a metaphor of some sorts, through the cathartic experience of writing as this process is largely about negating your own self and accepting a novel causality of beingness. Within this enterprise; explaining how this has happened so far is probably the toughest thing to do. But I very humbly attempt to explain it as I believe with all honesty and innocence that it may help you have the feel of how reality is lived out as our consciousness shifts/alters its cognition and uses innate information for creation of a metaphor, which may prove cathartic and lead to larger and deeper wellness. This exercise may help us in arriving at our hypothesis about the specificity of Emergence, which finally settles as the Causality of a Reality. That is why I sought your magnanimity at the very start of the chapter as you can probably see, how poorly resourced I am to explain something, which is so intense, complex and hugely therapeutic yet unimaginably tough to put into words and language.
This eBook, you are going through, may very well be accepted as an Emergence. This emergence may very well be termed as Causal emergent expression of collectivity of separate constituting Information I have in different parts of the brain plexus, which seeds my consciousness. The Information; discreet and non-contextual they may sound and feel but are themselves seeded in physicality of billions of neural plexus. They are however, cooperative and assimilative part of the bio-chemical holism of body-mind Media. Then, this media of my consciousness is in constant interaction with the physicality of external milieus, which incessantly feeds Information into my Media system. The emotions, feelings, thoughtfulness and cognition of ambient reality are all Emergent elements and entities of the physicality of Information as well as their neural-bio-chemical interaction with physicality of my brain states. Theoretically; there are complex plexus of Information, Media, Milieu and multidimensional Emergences. Somehow; as the science of emergence tells us; these elements are the constituting elements of the Reality of Causality of Emergence. But; the singular and most critical question is – What triggers the ‘Causality’ of Emergence? What germinates the seeds of the collectivity of elements into the fruit-laden Tree of Emergence? In my case; what caused the Blank to grow into 40k plus words?
From our knowledge and experiences of science, we know that there is a specificity of situation, when distinct elements of seed, soil, water and physical attributes of ambient milieus like light and air converge and coalesce in a symbiotic specificity, triggering the germination of the seed and subsequent growing of full tree. We know, a fully grown tree in its entirety is an emergent reality as the seed itself has no wired Information to decide and define the symmetry of the full blown tree. Therefore, we have this hypothesis that there is some sort of specificity, which is required for emergence of a Reality out of the bundle of Information seeded into a physical structure. The specificity however has to be ascertained with definitiveness and understand how this specificity can be lived out for life-living excellence.
Here, the core trouble starts to unleash its true nature and lists out as why it is so near impossible to ascertain this magical Specificity of Causality of Reality. We try to understand it through an example of our life-living. This example somehow is so very close to the science of emergence, which we know. This may somehow unravel how difficult it is to ascertain specificity of emergence. This example is about how brilliance of musicality emerges in a symphony, played out by a philharmonic orchestra. Science of emergence tells us there are certain elements, conditions and attributes in Information of parts, which in a certain situation of milieus can trigger emergence. A philharmonic orchestra has almost everything present in real and metaphoric elements. It has the scale, the to and fro loop of information flow, plexus of interactions between parts of information as well as the elements in milieu, the harmony and somewhat exptropic (reverse of entropy) propensities of system, attributes that sync more than cancel each other out, etc. That is why when a philharmonic orchestra of highest order plays a symphony, what emerges is beyond the parts it constitutes of.
Here, we may benefit in our understanding of Causality of Emergence of Reality, if we list out the five elements constituting Information, which we may accept as Causalities, which Information engenders and they are available for a ‘Media’, especially the human media of consciousness. These elements or causalities may be accepted as –
* Dimension, * Force (energy), * Motion, * Location, * Attributes.
We all know of the terms and their possible meanings. However, in the ever-evolving domain of contemporary science and with new age human propensity to unravel all Realities in ever-expansive holism and entirety, we have the facility to assign and invest novel and alternative meanings and usefulness to the five elements or causalities. As we do it, we open the doors of novel and alternative ‘purposes’ and utilities in life-living. We deal with these novelties and alternatives step by step for easy and lasting understanding. This should ease up smooth internalization.
If we juxtapose these five causalities of Information with the probable specificity of the Causality of emergent reality, we have ease in understanding the complex process of emergence. We have brought these five elements or causalities of Information in picture when we are discussing the philharmonic orchestra and emergence of musical excellence of symphony to hypothesize that probably, emergence happens as and when these elements or causalities of Information are altered and acquires a metaphoric meaning in the process of assemblage of endemic and symbiotic conditions for happening of emergence, which we have detailed above. The philharmonic orchestra is a complex system and process of Information. It has Dimension, which reflects in its massive scale of hundreds of musical instruments and minds playing them. It has the Force or Energy, which reflects in the interactional loop of to and from information flow of musical notes of different musical instruments participating in a symphony. The scales and pitches of medleys of varied sounds present the elements of motion and location. The attributes are embedded in the composition and melodies of the symphony, etc. Hundreds of musicians, their instruments and thousands of audiences present the milieu as well as the media. Somewhere in the complexity of the process of the interplay of all these three – the elements of Information, the Media and the Milieus; the specificity hits the button and probably, there is a Change, which probably alters everything, primarily the cognition of the realities of the parts, in comparison to the emergent holism.
Something similar probably happened with my blankness too. As I sat down to write, there was nothing in my mind. As the first word waited for its arrival in my mind, I settled for what looked like a definitive probability then that I may never be able to write a book in such a state of mind. Therefore, what seemed possible was I would simply write whatever comes in my mind and won’t bother for any symmetry and pattern, as is required for a book. I said to myself that I would write as if I am singing and do so without bothering for the grammar of music and the syntactic rules of musicality, which is adhered to when we sing a musical composition in Indian classical music tradition. As I settled to sing the writing, the words began to drop; it came as short drizzle and finally it began to rain good enough to gradient the flow of the river of words. I kept singing and never bothered to check what I had sung and how it felt. I continued singing and did so for the sake of surviving out the grief; only focusing on how I could successfully alter the feel of grief into a metaphor of song, which rained as words. Much later, probably after 40-50 pages, a pattern began to emerge and it began to feel that there can be a one word theme, around which the book can take shape. I embarked on the theme and the words continued to rain, the river continued to flow in the gradient and the song gained its melodic momentum.
If I look back and try to ascertain what triggered this all, I can say with humility and honesty that what happened with the book writing was suitable situation for Emergence to seed and blossom a full tree. There was the Information with all five elements and causalities. There was a powerful external Milieu and my own internal milieu stood in symmetry and synthesis. That is why there could be melody of accord and mutual augmentation. My own Media of consciousness was fine-tuned for emergence as consciously, I had been working towards creation of cathartic metaphors of the Information I had in my mind consciousness. All elements and their suitability for emergence were present about which we have talked about earlier, in the specific example of philharmonic orchestra. What probably caused the specificity of emergence of the book may be accepted as my conscious decision to change and alter the Information of Grief and gloom into a cathartic metaphor of emergent purpose. The parts were there inside me and they subconsciously coalesced and cooperated to engender a holism of a new reality for me. Therefore, if I could humbly accept what is the Specificity of Causality of Emergence of Reality; then it has to be the Code of Change. This code of change may be conscious or subconscious-unconscious. This code of change may buoy up from within the system or from some elements in the external milieu. The code of change emerges out of the complex, copious, cyclic yet melodic interactions between Information, Media and Milieus. The change happens in all five elements of Information; it happens in the composition of symmetry and symbiosis of information which permeates inside the structural complexities of the Media; it happens in the ‘readiness’ and resonance of the milieu. The change is the specificity. Can we say; metaphorically though; it is the Fifth Force of the universe, which can be a strong building block of Reality as it triggers the Emergence of Reality in its holism? This Fifth Force as the Code of Change is some specificity, which is emergent; may be accepted as seeded in the processes of interactional regime and routine of Information-Media-Milieu. The Reality; till finality, if ever; is an unending symphony of metaphoric melodies. Sure; nothing cacophonous and discordant must creep in. As we have hypothesized very early in this eBook; there is nothing true-right and nothing false-wrong. Either it is harmonious-melodious or cacophonous-discordant.
As we had begun this chapter with a specific intent, we may say; this is the core and critical mechanism and process of ‘alternative’ and novel cognition and utilities. We need to invest our non-intuitiveness into the notions of Information, Media, Milieu, Emergence, Representation, et al to unravel how the core Information of dimension, force, motion, location and attributes can be marvelously, alternatively and non-intuitively expressed and communicated in our new cultures and alternative human systems, so that we humans, as the most endowed, empowered and exclusive ‘Media’ can create for our life-living brilliance of novel purposes and worth. Somehow, apart from science’s own unending journey into Causality of Reality, we as individuals can unravel and decipher on our own, the magical and mesmerizing element of the specificity of change in our life-living. This magic we have to live out. This we are trying to delve deep into.
We sure may benefit from this hypothesis that this singular element of CHANGE – in perception/cognition of the causalities of dimension, force, motion, location and attributes, which happens because of alteration of interactional context between Information, Media and Milieu, is central to the idea of Reality and its emergence. The slavery of consciousness, which we have talked about earlier, is this incarceration of Media in a fixed and faked Milieu, not allowing any CHANGE. This somehow incarcerates the Reality itself. This imprisoned consciousness is the owner of restrictive property of intuitiveness. The non-intuitiveness is a call for emancipation from this slavery – freedom from the fixation of interaction between fake-fudged Information, precarious Media and controlled Milieus.
Non-intuitiveness as an artistry of emancipation and excellence begins with holistic understanding of the Media of Consciousness and the acceptance of Milieu in not only physical and material sense but primarily in terms of Information. The primary trouble for most people is their restricted and only intuitive understanding of the two very critical ideas of Media of Consciousness and Milieus. We are not detailing the Media here because the author has written about Consciousness in details in his previous eBooks, available as unrestricted downloads. I humbly insist that you shall benefit hugely from venturing into the holism of the idea of Consciousness to unravel how it works as Media. This shall help a great deal in evolving the non-intuitiveness.
Here, we focus on unraveling the Milieus as Information, having elements of Dimensions, Force (Energy), Motion, Location and Attributes. We talk about their non-intuitive cognition and perceptions as Information and emergent representations. The idea is – when we understand the twin elements of Media and Milieus non-intuitively and with scientific objectivity and holism, we shall have ease in understanding the ‘contextuality’ between Media and Milieus. This shall facilitate the understanding of how we can CHANGE the ‘context’ consciously and unleash such Representations of the elements or causalities of Information, which as an alternative reality can create novel purposes and utilities for our empowered and excellent life-living. This is what we have exemplified in previous paragraphs.
We have worked a possible hypothesis that Information at Milieu level is Generic and common for most Media of living species. The Milieu itself is the Media for Information, which at macrocosmic level is truly Cosmic and Infinite. Therefore, we as humans must understand and accept that the generic Information about dimension, force, motion, location and attributes, which we Intuitively perceive is only a small and miniscule and restrictive part of the larger Information pool in our microcosmic Milieu of earth and especially the more miniscule space of our family, society, culture and country we live. The holism and expansiveness is infinite and beautifully mesmerizing. This is what we have to Live Out. Naturally, life-living has this hugely satisfying and melodious purpose of living out the infinity of Information.
It is a hypothesis that an empowered and highly aware person, who understands this limitation of its consciousness, is more aligned to larger and wider spectrum of Reality and therefore, has better probability of optimizing his or her life-living wellness, success and fulfillment. It is largely because the Consciousness of such a person emancipates itself from slavery of Cognition of restrictive ‘intuitiveness’ and can very well access innate and entrenched Information from macrocosmic milieus, other than its localized milieus and ambient cultures. This seeds the element of Change and in turn allows emergence of novel and alternative Reality, having better potentials for cathartic utility and worth.
This hypothesis is not new. Since 3000 years back, Indian and many Oriental spiritual and philosophical traditions have documented such a desirable consciousness and cognition for an empowered man and woman. Modern science has only detailed how and why this hypothesis has objective measurable basis. It is primarily because of the Quantum of Information, a person has. More, holistic and macrocosmic Information for Consciousness means larger and better Cognitive abilities and facility to unravel and decipher larger and deeper Causalities, which affect life-living. This in turn means wider, deeper and varied availability of ‘purposes’, utilities and worth in life-living. If Reality is all about Information, very naturally, a person with better quantum of information shall have better grip at Reality and this means – better latitude in life-living engineering and management. We have already talked about how scales and complex interactional loop matters for emergence.
This hypothesis or idea must be understood from different perspectives so that we have better understanding and acceptance of the veracity and utility of the hypothesis in our pursuit to have novel and alternative purposes, which could augment our wellness and excellence. Another way to approach the above hypothesis is to unravel the varied aspects of the five elements or causalities of Information – Dimension, Force, Motion, Location and Attributes. This approach also arrives us at the same destination.
We probably can be well off when we accept that Information is the entity of Change in Causality in the incessant interaction between Media and Milieu. The change may itself not always be purely physical but perceptional to the way media metaphors or represents the elements of dimension, force, motion, location and attributes. Therefore, it is well within the ability, reach and maneuverability of Media to change Information by merely altering the cognition and feel of the five elements or causalities constituting Information. We however, must take into account the fact that perceptional reality or the so-called non-physicality of feel is also seeded in the physicality of brain plexuses. Emergence has to be seeded in physicality. This may well be a right hypothesis!
Let us explain this hypothesis by picking up an example from our daily life-living, which could ease the understanding and acceptance of the idea we are attempting to arrive at. This example we pick up here is Dreams. We all dream and most of us are very much bewildered and mesmerized by its mystical manifestations. As contemporary science has not yet fully deciphered the mysticism of dreams, we have the latitude to attempt a scientific philosophization for understanding of our own hypothesis.
We are attempting to hint at a possibility that dreams may well be a unique piece of Reality, though not exclusive to humans, which explains how cognitive alteration in five elements or causalities of Information, changes the Information itself and thus alters the Reality for us. This example may explain how we can do it very ‘Consciously’, as many aware and empowered humans already do, what Dreams do ‘unconsciously’ for us. This we shall explain later. First we attempt to decipher dreams, with a hypothesis, as scientifically as possible.
