On The Notion Of 'Effort' As A Virtue For Life
A small child is banging his head against a brick wall.
The wise father watches on, his formidable brow locked
Into a deep frown. After a long, irritated silence,
In which nothing could be heard but the banging of a child's
Head against a wall, The reverent man finally exclaims:
'You're never going to succeed like that. You have to bang
Your head alot harder against that wall if you want to find out
What's on the other side!' Meanwhile, a cat who had been
Preening himself lazily in the sunshine, eyes the couple warily,
And then slinks nonchalantly around the side of the wall.
