SERMON: REVELATION CHAPTER 10

[2] The title of the sermon today is “REVELATION CHAPTER 10.”

- Let’s take a look at the Daniel’s 70th Week charts and see where we are on the timeline.

- We just finished the Revelation Chapter 9 study.

- Take a look along the top of the chart and you’ll see what we just saw in Chapter 9.

- Find WOE #1 or angel #5 at the top there. The fifth trumpet sounded.

- LOCUSTS from the bottomless pit. Not good. They tortured men but the men couldn’t die.

Then we saw the second WOE in Chapter 9.

- The 4 angels were loosed from the Euphrates.

- Not good. 200 million horsemen  went upon the earth and killed 1/3 of the people who were still living.

- And then I want to ready you the final 2 verses from Chapter 9 before we go into Chapter 10.

[3] Revelation 9:20-21   And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:  21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

- The evil people still living on earth did not change their mind, were not sorry for their wickedness.

- And remember, God’s wrath doesn’t change their mind.

- That’s why He’s pouring out His wrath on them. They won’t change their ways.

- They would rather burn in hell for eternity than do what GOD asks them to do.

So, we just finished the FIFTH and SIXTH TRUMPETS in Revelation Chapter 9.

- And remember, the trumpets are the pouring out of God’s wrath on the people left on earth.

- The saved people were RAPTURED before the pouring out of God’s wrath.

- But, God still has people preaching the GOSPEL on earth while all of this is happening.

- He’s still trying to reach out HIS HAND and offer people everlasting life.

- But they won’t take it the BIBLE says. And it’s very easy to take. It’s not difficult.

- The 5th and 6th trumpets are the FIRST and SECOND WOE’s. There’s still a THIRD WOE to come.

- And the first two were very bad. You don’t want to be left on earth to go through those.

Now, we’re at Revelation Chapter 10.

- Notice, this is a short chapter with only 11 verses.

- The 7th and final trumpet doesn’t occur until the verse 15 of Chapter 11, or Revelation 11:15.

- So, we have this period of time in Chapter 10 and most of Chapter 11 that leads up to the 7th trumpet.

- And the 7th trumpet is the FINAL TRUMPET. We’re leading up to this FINAL TRUMPET.

- Let’s get started there in verse 1.

[4] Revelation 10:1   And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

- A MIGHTY ANGEL comes down from heaven. He’s clothed with a cloud. Imagine this.

- A rainbow is upon his head. His face is amazingly bright like the sun. His feet are like pillars of fire.

[5] Revelation 10:2   And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,

- This mighty angel from heaven has a little book open in his hand.

- He stands there with his right foot on the sea and left foot on the earth.

[6] Revelation 10:3   And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

- This mighty angel cries out with a loud voice like a lion.

- When he cried out, SEVEN THUNDERS uttered their voices.

[7] Revelation 10:4   And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

- John, who is writing all of this down for us, hears what the 7 thunders say.

- He’s about to write it down for us in Revelation, but a voice from heaven speaks to John.

- This voice tells John to not write down what he heard from the 7 thunders.

- In Revelation Chapter 1, we see Jesus Christ tell John to write what you see and hear.

[8] Revelation 1:17-19   And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:  18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.  19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

- The Book of Revelation is everything that John sees and hears that we need to know.

- He’s written it all down for us. BUT GOD doesn’t want us to know what the 7 thunders said.

- It’s a mystery. We don’t have a clue what those 7 thunders said.

- And yet, you have false preachers making up stories about these 7 thunders and what they said.

- It’s everywhere. Look it up when you have a chance.

- It’s actually hilarious once you know the Bible and what GOD says.

[9] Revelation 10:4   And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

- God says to SEAL UP THOSE THINGS WHICH THE SEVEN THUNDERS UTTERED.

- God says, “WRITE THEM NOT!!!” So, they’re sealed up. You don’t get to know what was said.

- You can’t figure it out. It’s not in the Bible. It’s not there. Give it up. It’s a mystery.

- God didn’t speak to you VERSUS John and gave you some new revelation. It’s not there.

- REVELATION is written to REVEAL things to us. God reveals so much to us in Revelation.

- But right here, HE SAYS TO SEAL IT UP. John was about to write, but God says DON’T WRITE.

[10] Revelation 10:5   And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,

- The same mighty angel standing on the sea and earth lifts up his hand to heaven.

- It’s important to notice that this angel LIFTS UP HIS hand to heaven.

[11] Revelation 10:6   And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

- This mighty angel standing on the sea and earth SWARES by GOD ALMIGHTY that there should be time no longer.

- But, let’s keep reading.

[12] Revelation 10:7   But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

- So many false preachers say that TIME doesn’t exist any longer when we reach Revelation 10:6.

- The seventh angel hasn’t sounded yet. It says right there in verse 7, “BUT IN THE DAYS OF THE VOICE OF THE SEVENTH ANGEL.”

- So obviously, there’s still time being measured because it says DAYS of the seventh angel.

- Time is still being measured in days. Jesus Christ will rule on earth for 1000 years AFTER all of this.

- Obviously, if Jesus is ruling for 1,000 years, then time is still being measured.

There’s a COLON in verse 6, which gives you a clue.

- Time is still being measured. What’s this mighty angel saying?

- Let’s read verse 5, 6, and 7 again together and see if this makes more sense to you yet.

[13] Revelation 10:5-7   And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,  6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:  7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

- Remember, we’re leading up to the SEVENTH AND FINAL TRUMPET. That’s where we are in Revelation.

- When the SEVENTH AND FINAL TRUMPET sounds, the time that will be NO LONGER means this:

- There will be no time left until the mystery of God is finished.

- In other words, when the SEVENT ANGEL begins to sound, the mystery of God will be finished.

- There’s no more time left until the mystery of God is finished BECAUSE it’s finished.

- It’s completed. It’s over. That’s what this SCRIPTURE means. It’s clearly not saying that time stops.

- It mentions DAYS and we know the entire end times prophecy is being measured in time.

- 1000 years for the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ.

[14] Revelation 20:6   Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

- And look, that’s in Revelation Chapter 20. Time is still being measured.

- That puts an end to that false teaching.

- When the SEVENTH ANGEL begins to sound the seventh trumpet, the mystery of God is complete.

- Let’s focus on verse 7 of Revelation Chapter 10. Let’s read it again.

[15] Revelation 10:7   But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

- Make sure you have your timeline ready to look at because I want to make sure you understand when Trumpet 7 is going to take place.

- It’s not in exact alignment on that timeline. I want you to see this.

- So, let’s first study the MYSTERY OF GOD and what that means in verse 7 on the screen.

- It says, “the mystery of God should be finished” WHEN the seventh angel shall BEGIN to sound.

- So when that SEVENTH ANGEL sounds the SEVENTH TRUMPET, the mystery of God is complete.

- There’s no more time left for the mystery of God to be complete.

- It’s pretty important for us to understand what the MYSTERY OF GOD means right there.

- Let’s use the Bible to see what this mystery of God is within the Bible.

[16] Romans 11:25   For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

- The mystery of God is given to us right there. It’s concerning the GENTILES.

- But, I’ll make this more clear in just a minute. Let’s keep reading in Romans Chapter 11 next verse.

[17] Romans 11:26-27   And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:  27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

- “AND SO ALL ISRAEL SHALL BE SAVED.” What does that mean?

- You get these false preachers saying that God will save all of the JEWS in the man-made country of Israel.

- God will MAKE THEM BELIEVE and then all Jews in Israel shall be saved.

- They take Romans 11:26 and they ignore all of the rest of the chapter, the chapters before and after.

- They pick and choose and make it say what they want. PAUL is making a point.

- Read the other chapters in ROMANS and the MYSTERY OF GOD will make sense.

It’s no longer a mystery to those who are saved and study this Bible. You can know the mystery today.

- When that FINAL ANGEL sounds that trumpet that mystery is over.

- You’ll understand what that means here in a few minutes.

And notice in the Scripture on the screen that it says: “There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer.”

- That’s JESUS CHRIST. And notice what it says in verse 27: “For this is my covenant to them, when I shall take away their sins.”

- When is someone’s sins taken away? When are they forgiven of their sins?

- It’s when they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s when sins are forgiven.

- God doesn’t make anyone believe. You’ve got to do that part on your own.

- And it’s quick and easy to change your mind. It takes no physical work at all to change your mind.

- But watch what we learn in Romans Chapter 9.

[18] Romans 9:6-8   Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:  7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.  8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

- Verse 6 says, “FOR THEY ARE NOT ALL ISRAEL, WHICH ARE OF ISRAEL.”

- What in the world does that mean? “They are not all Israel, which are of Israel.”

- This is AMAZINGLY IMPORTANT to understand today.

- Remember, the man-made country of Israel today HATES the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

- Ask them. He’s a false SAVIOR they say. That’s an example from today’s world.

- Back in the time of Jesus and even before Jesus, there were people who are the physical seed of ISRAEL.

- They came from JACOB’S PHYSICAL SEED AND PHYSICAL FAMILY.

- They were called the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL because they were physically the children.

- Callie, Taylor, and Emma are physically my seed and my children.

But God is saying there is a PHYSICAL SEED OF ISRAEL and a SPIRITUAL SEED OF ISRAEL.

- Just like we have our physical flesh and then we have our SOUL and SPIRIT.

- This is all a picture to show us this truth today. Our physical flesh is not saved.

- Our soul and spirit is SAVED once we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

- Your flesh isn’t saved. It’s going to be buried one day. It’s passing away. It’s aging. It’s not saved.

- Verse 8 on the screen says: “They which are the children of the FLESH, these are NOT the children of God.”

- Just because they are the PHYSICAL SEED or FLESH of Israel, this doesn’t mean they’re saved.

Verse 8 says, “BUT, the children of the PROMISE are counted for the seed.”

- “THE CHILDREN OF THE PROMISE!!!” What is the promise?

- So, look, if you understand and accept the promise from God, then you are the CHILDREN OF ISRAEL.

- You are the SPIRITUAL SEED OF ISRAEL. The children of Israel are the SPIRITUAL SEED.

- This is the mystery of God. But, what is the PROMISE EXACTLY? Let’s look to the Book of Acts.

- Acts Chapter 13. The Apostle Paul is PREACHING at Antioch.

- I want you to hear HIS PREACHING today just like you were there.

- And understand what the PROMISE OF GOD IS TODAY. HEAR PAUL’S PREACHING.

[19] Acts 13:16-19   Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.  17 The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.  18 And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.  19 And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.

[20] Acts 13:20-22   And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.  21 And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.  22 And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

- Now watch the next verse. He tells us what the PROMISE MEANS.

[21] Acts 13:23-25   Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:  24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.  25 And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

- The promise of God is TO RAISE UNTO ISREAL A SAVIOUR. That SAVIOUR is JESUS CHRIST, the Son of God.

- It’s not you. It’s JESUS alone. It’s not a religion. It’s not following the commandments.

- It’s JESUS. He’s the SAVIOR. He is the PROMISE God promised all of us who believe.

- We are the SPIRITUAL SEED OF ISRAEL. Let’s hear Paul’s preaching today. Continuing in verse 26.

[22] Acts 13:26   Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

- Paul says, “HEY, I’m talking to the physical seed of Abraham, but look at what he says right there.”

- “And WHOSOEVER among you feareth God.” That’s anyone.

- He says, “TO YOU IS THE WORD OF THIS SALVATION SENT.”

[23] Acts 13:27-30   For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.  28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.  29 And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.  30 But God raised him from the dead:

- And watch here again BECAUSE we’re talking about the PROMISE GOD MADE TO US.

[24] Acts 13:31-33   And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.  32 And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,  33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

[25] Acts 13:34-37   And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.  35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.  36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:  37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

[26] Acts 13:38-39   Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:  39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

- That’s some preaching right there. Where’s that in the churches around here? It’s not.

- “THROUGH THIS MAN IS PREACHED UNTO YOU FORGIVENESS OF SINS.”

- “And by Him ALL THAT BELIEVE are justified from all things.” The law couldn’t justify you.

- It’s JESUS ALONE. And then Paul gives a warning next in HIS PREACHING.

- You don’t get warnings from all these false preachers. They don’t want to make anyone mad.

[27] Acts 13:40-42   Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;  41 Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.  42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

- Paul tells them that the prophets have warned you people.

- A man will tell you the truth, will preach you the truth, will DECLARE THE TRUTH unto you.

- And you won’t believe. Does that sound familiar? I’ve done it myself to preachers.

- You’ve done it yourself. People won’t believe. We’ve declared it. They won’t believe.

- And then look what it says there in verse 42 the second half of the verse.

- “THE GENTILES BESOUGHT THAT THESE WORDS MIGHT BE PREACHED TO THEM THE NEXT SABBATH.”

- Right after this Scripture, the Bible tells us that the JEWS were jealous of Paul and His words.

- They started teaching contradictions to HIS WORDS and blaspheming God.

[28] Acts 13:43-45   Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.  44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.  45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

- Paul and Barnabas had all these Jews coming up against them. The Bible doesn’t mention ANYONE else standing up to these Jews.

[29] Acts 13:46-47   Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.  47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

- The Jews rejected SALVATION. They aren’t the children of ISRAEL by God’s definition.

- So, God turned to the GENTILES. Salvation to the ENDS OF THE EARTH. Thank God.

[30] Acts 13:48   And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

- Do you see the difference in the Jews and Gentiles? The Jews were jealous and hated salvation.

- They wanted to do it themselves. But the Gentiles were GLAD. They GLORIFIED the word of the Lord.

- “AND AS MANY AS WERE ORDAINED TO ETERNAL LIFE BELIEVED.”

- What did they do to receive eternal life? THEY BELIEVED the GOSPEL. Paul preached the GOSPEL!!!

- The children of PROMISE in the Bible are those who receive the GOSPEL and are saved.

- The CHILDREN OF ISRAEL are those who put their FAITH ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

[31] Galatians 3:7   Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

- So, let’s read Revelation 10 verse 7 again and see if this makes sense now.

[32] Revelation 10:7   But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

- The mystery of God is salvation to all that believe on HIM.

- Let’s re-read Romans 11 that states the mystery of God.

[33] Romans 11:25-27   For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.  26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:  27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

- ALL ISRAEL are the spiritual seed. The children of Israel are all those who believe.

- This is the mystery of God. And yes, it’s a mystery to many people, to many preachers around here.

- But the Bible teaches it VERY, VERY CLEARLY.

- It’s placed again at the very end of the Book of Romans in conclusion to the great Book of Romans.

[34] Romans 16:25-27   Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,  26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:  27 To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. Written to the Romans from Corinthus, and sent by Phebe servant of the church at Cenchrea.

- Paul gets this mystery of God out as good as he can. He preaches it everywhere he goes.

- Watch this today.

[35] 1 Corinthians 2:7-8   But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:  8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

[36] Ephesians 1:9-13   Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:  10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:  11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:  12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.  13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

[37] Colossians 1:26-28   Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:  27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:  28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

- Look, Paul is preaching this mystery of God everywhere. He’s getting it out to everyone he can.

- But, today, in churches everywhere AROUND, this is still a mystery. And it’s written clearly.

- It’s important that you ACCEPT what God says TODAY.

- Let’s read one more passage of Scripture so you understand the mystery of God and the promise of God.

[38] Ephesians 3:1-4   For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,  2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:  3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,  4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

- There’s the MYSTERY OF GOD again. The mystery of CHRIST. Jesus is God.

[39] Ephesians 3:4-6   Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)  5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spir
