Jesus' Peace

Thursday, September 02, 2010

These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:25-27
Have you ever been in a crisis and had ABSOLUTELY no peace? It doesn't matter how many sermons we hear or how much Bible we read, we always tend to forget what God has promised to us. God's Word is full of promises. There are promises to individuals. There are promises to nations. There are promises to believers. The promises to believers are for you and I if we are washed in the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Here in these verses, Jesus is saying that ANOTHER Comforter would come. To us that Comforter is the Holy Spirit of God. He REMINDS us of God's promises and all that is taught in His Book. Why do we need reminders? We need them because it is human nature to try to "fix" things on our own. We need to be reminded that Jesus is ALIVE and He can help if we will but trust Him.

One more thing to consider here is peace. The passage says, "MY peace I give unto you". Can you believe that? JESUS' peace!!! Isn't that awesome?! It's not just a piece of peace, but HIS PEACE! He doesn't force it on you, but it is available to you when you believe His words and trust on Him. He did not say that He would remove your crisis situation, but you CAN have peace IN your crisis situation. He is not up in Heaven biting his nails because of the bad happenings down here. He is in total control of the situation and He wants His followers to have HIS PEACE.
