Chapter 6

The First and the Last

The title of the First and the Last is reserved only for One Being, God Himself The meaning of this title really speaks for itself.  The First and the Last is referring to the eternal God who has no beginning or end. There is no one who existed before God, and no one will outlive God. God is the eternal "I AM" as we learned earlier. God has always been and will always be the eternally present God As the Creator, God made or created all beings.

Old Testament References

4 Who has performed and done it, Calling the generations  from the beginning? " I, the LORD, am the first; And with the last I am He."" (Isaiah 41:4)

6 " Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: " I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God. (Isaiah 44:6)

12 " Listen to Me, O Jacob, And Israel, My called: I am He, I am the First, I am also the Last. 13 Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, And My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together. (Isaiah 48:12,13)

These Old Testament verses clearly refer to God. God is claiming the title of being the First and the Last. He is saying also that there is no other God besides Him. We also see in Isaiah 44:6 thaboth the Father and His redeemer, Jesus Christ the Son, are both referred to as the First anthe Last. Christ has redeemed us from our sins. For someone to claim being the First and the Last would be blasphemy if it were not true.
