Only God Can Be Worshiped
The Ten Commandments
There is one thing we can be sure of from the Bible. There is only one God and only He can be worshiped. The first two of the Ten Commandments given to Israel state God's position very clearly as to who can be worshiped.
And God spoke all these words, saying:
2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 "You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image —any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. (Ex. 20:1-6)
Satan Tempts Christ to Worship Him
When Satan was tempting Jesus in the wilderness , he tried to get Jesus to worship him.
8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." 10 Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, "You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve."" (Matt. 4:8-10)
Jesus made it clear that only God can be worshiped. To fall down on our knees and give worship, prayer, and praise to anyone other than God is idolatry. It is express
