Chapter 4
The Son of Man
Early in my Christian experience, I never thought too much about the fact that Jesus often referred to Himself as the Son of Man. I knew He was the Son of God. However, this title He used didn"t seem to me that important. Later, I felt that Jesus used this title to show His kinship with mankind which was true. However, what I ultimately learned was that this title He used was an Old Testament scriptural proof of His deity. While some of the prophets in the Old Testament referred to themselves as "son of man", Jesus referred to Himself as "the Son of Man".
Daniel’s Vision
In chapter seven of his book, Daniel describes a vision he has. In this vision, he mentions the Son of Man.
13 " I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.
In this vision, Daniel mentions the Ancient of Days who is God the Father. Who then is this Son of Man? These verses describe Jesus Christ as the Son of Man.
Jesus and the Clouds
Clouds play an important role in both Jesus" ascension after His resurrection and in His future return to Earth.
9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly towar
