THE MESSAGE OF THE FIRST APOSTLE

What did the first apostles preach?

First, we will begin by examining the first teacher of the word, chief cornerstone, the foundation of the apostles and prophets, the God who is locked in human flesh, Jesus Christ, how He taught the word.

Let’s pick His first teaching on the road to the Emmaus, immediately after his resurrection in Luke 24:25-27.

(Luk 24:25)  Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

(Luk 24:26)  Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

(Luk 24:27)  And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

You can see that He went through the whole scriptures, from Genesis to Malachi gathering facts.

After gathering all the facts from the scriptures, He concluded that all the scriptures were about Himself. (Luk 24:27)

Thus, from the writings of Moses, all the prophets, the law, and the Psalms have one specific mission of testifying and revealing Christ Jesus.

Having seen the message of the foundation of the apostles, Christ Jesus, now, it's time to look at the message of the first apostles who followed Jesus’ footsteps.

What did they preach? What was the content and context of their message?

The bible does not leave us to wonder; It contains all the answers we need. Our task is to study it through the lens of the finished work of Christ Jesus.

Fasten your seatbelts and let’s journey together.

(Act 5:42)  And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

(Act 8:5)  Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

(Act 9:22)  But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

(Act 17:3)  Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

(Act 18:5)  And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

(1Co 1:23)  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

(1Co 15:12)  Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

(2Co 4:5)  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

(Eph 3:8)  Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

(Php 1:15)  Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

(Php 1:18)  What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

(Col 1:28)  Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

We can see, without an iota of doubt, that all the apostles had one common message and both the content and the context of their message was Christ Jesus.
