The calling includes concepts and processes like soul awakening, soul enlivening, or soul opening, as well as a radical change of heart. It is also a drawing and enabling that may need to come from beyond. Naturally and without such awakening, humans are generally not interested in the things of God. By excessively pursuing material knowledge, many neglect their souls, which can get into such a state of inertia or lethargy, that, as far as being a part of the person’s activities, the soul may as well be dead.
