A Message on Identity
Our lives sometimes have felt like a battle as I am sure it does for most people. The enemy’s first and most furious attack on Jesus was around his identity as God’s son. This has been my greatest battle, the settling of my identity, not in what I have done, or haven’t done. Not as a husband, father, minister, friend, entrepreneur or anything else. My identity as a beloved by the Most High. To be able to be content in knowing you are chosen, loved, accepted.
This is the war, this is the battle, and it is waged in the world every day, the media is constantly urging you to be more, to do more, to try harder, so that you can be accepted, loved, adored, by strangers. It is a shallow and powerful lie at the same time. The truth is, you are His, and He already has accepted you, nothing you can, or will do, will gain more love or acceptance from Him, His love is complete, fulfilling and secure. You are perfect in Him, and no one and nothing can change that, or take His love away. I am grateful for my awesome wife who has endured through my story, which hasn’t been easy. I laid a bed of roses, but as we found out it smells great, but it leaves a thousand holes in you. Marriage isn’t always easy, nor is parenting, but it is worth it. To those who endure, they will say yes, I agree. My wife has been faithful, steadfast and secure. She has reminded me when I have forgotten who I am, to return to the truth and deny the voice of the liar. If it wasn’t for her, I may easily have given up during the battle. My encouragement is to fight for your identity to remain in God, not in anything else, for that is shaky ground. Be a daughter, be a son. Let that be enough, and all else will flow through that, and it will be glorious. His dream for your life is a beautiful one. Live His Dream.
