SING A SONG OF SAFETY

Be secret they say, be silent they say

Be quiet and crafty and coy

Stay in the basement and hide away

In fear of the neighbors and of light of day!

Never come out and never speak up

Safety in shadows and hiding!

But if magic is power then why would you hide?

And what help is silence from those who are wise?

For wisdom unspoken is wisdom unknown

And who shivers in shadows shivers alone!

Be loud, I say, and stand up for yourself!

Safety's in numbers and courage!

For who's secret in life will be secret in death

And who even knows when they're taken?

No one will step forward for one who's unknown

And the secret martyr's forsaken!

But they who are known go not quietly

And they who have friends will have help!
