While the Boss is Away

“Teach these people to do what I told you,” said the boss, just before he went back home. Naturally, as time went on and the boss didn’t return, the managers focused more and more of their efforts on making their comfort zones more and more comfortable for themselves.

Soon the managers became so consumed with their efforts to be more comfortable that they stopped training the workers all together and instead, focused their time on more comfortable meetings for managers, mostly held in Cuba or Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, the workplace they had been given became a very uncomfortable place. Occasionally, at a managers meeting, the managers would bemoan the wild behavior of the workers, however, the managers agreed they didn’t want to make themselves uncomfortable by getting involved with things outside their comfort zone. “It’s not really our problem,” they chorused.

All seemed well for these managers and yet, somehow, their comfortable situation became very uncomfortable when the boss came back.
