CHAPTER 8

Jesus Christ created the universe

God created the heavens and the earth: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. [Genesis 1:1]

God’s own hand made the heavens and the earth:

“Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?

For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist,” says the Lord.

[Isaiah 66:1-2a]

Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, and My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together. [Isaiah 48:13]

The Father created us. We are the work of his hand: But now, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you our potter, and all we are the work of Your hand. [Isaiah 64:8]

The Lord God’s outstretched arm made the earth and its inhabitants:

I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed proper to Me. [Jeremiah 27:5]

God’s word was an extension of himself, and the Word made everything that exists, and the Word was Jesus Christ:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. [John 1:1-3]

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. [John 1:14]

Jesus Chris is God, and he created the heavens and the earth:

But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever…. Therefore God, Your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness more than your companions.” And, “You Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.”

[Hebrews 1:8-10]

God created the universe through his Son: God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.

[Hebrews 1:1-2]

The universe was created by and for God’s Son: He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

[Colossians 1:13-17]

God alone created everything that exists without help:

Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and He who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens all alone, who spreads abroad the earth by Myself.” [Isaiah 44:24]

God’s own hand made everything that exists:

“Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool…. For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist,” says the Lord.

[Isaiah 66:1-2a]

The Holy Spirit played a role in creation: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. [Genesis 1:1-2]
