Saint Francis:
A park bench in Central Park
As an Elderly man
Feeds a trio of sparrows and yellow finches
As white marshmallow clouds
Float silently across the clear blue sky
Sketching the shadows
Upon the grass and trees below.
Breaking of pieces of bread,
As a silent prayer blessing
The smallest of God’s creatures
As Lavender Dragonflies
And blue and white butterflies
Passes by.
A brand new mother pushing an antique stroller
Not giving thought to the elderly man or sparrows,
But focusing solely upon the struggles
Of her life that are being unfolded before her.
