By Grace through Faith
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
1. (For by grace are ye saved) By God's grace we are saved.
2. (Through faith) How does faith come?
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So faith comes by hearing God's word
3. (And that not of yourselves) If not of us. Who?
"It's by God's grace". By us hearing God's word, and by the power of His Holy Spirit. And (it's not of ourselves), but (it is the gift of God).
4. (Not of works, lest any man should boast). 'So it's not by works, that is to say, it's not what we were able to do, to get saved, but it was by hearing of God's word, by the power of His Holy Spirit, that we were able to have the faith; to believe on His Son Jesus Christ, to be saved.
So it was all by God's grace, that we are saved, or for someone to be saved. So anyone that is saved can't go around boasting about being saved by something that they may have done. Because it's a gift from God, through faith that came from Him. And it's by that faith; that we was able to believe on His Son Jesus Christ and what He done for us.
And by us coming to believe on His Son Jesus Christ; we were able to realize what sinners we truly were, and repentance came, because it was revealed to us, that it was Jesus who took our place, and suffered, and died for our sins. So because of that, we could be saved through Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.
Romans 3:22-26 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
