and he embraced me.

“Alex!” he said with a huge smile. We let go, he looked at me with warmth in his eyes. “Wow, you look beautiful.”

We stood gazing at each other for a while and I felt myself blush. After a few seconds he looked up and around, taking in the scenery.

”Where are we? I feel under-dressed,” he said with a twinkle in his eye. “It’s beautiful here.”

“I know, I think it’s where the elves live.”

“Well, you certainly fit in,” he said as he took my hand. “Shall we have a look around?”

“Yes, let’s!” I said happily as we started walking down towards a river.

The dirt on the ground was soft to walk on. The forest was bright and the air felt fresh. I kept looking his way, almost to make sure he wasn’t going to vanish.

There were elves here and there but they didn’t seem to take much notice to us. The tree houses were built in most of the trees going all the way down to the river. Although it was a forest, the ground looked tidy, like organised gardening and there were clear paths. Down by the river the water was very clear and the river was broad. On the other side there was light that shone bright like the sun, but it didn’t hurt my eyes. It was warm and welcoming, reminding me of the lights from the tree banister. I wondered if that was what people saw when they’d had near death experiences, but this wasn’t a tunnel, which was the classic near death story of most people that I had read of.
